Beef exports reach a record with shipments of 188 thousand tonnes in Brazil

Puna Bio joins bioinput market when releasing the world’s first “extremophile” biostimulant, consisting of bacteria that survive in extreme environmental conditions. Microorganisms are extracted from the highest salt flats in the Puna region in northwest Argentina. Special Secretariat of the Brazilian Federal Revenue fined Longping, a company controlled by CITIC Group Corp in an amount of US$ 156.75 million. In 2017, Longping acquired the corn seed production operations from DowDuPont for US$1.1 billion in Brazil. Brazilian tax authorities found that the transaction generated an increase in the value of the Chinese company’s subsidiaries, and that the tax set by law was never charged. New plantain variety developed in the State of Mato Grosso, BRS Terra-Anã has eight to nine bunches and 45 to 50 fruits per bunch, with fruits with characteristics similar to the usual banana. Rains have caused a 30% to 50% drop of Hass avocado production, according to Jorge Enrique Restrepo, executive director of Corpohass. “Hail affects trees, slope water takes nutrients and causes erosion, and pest and disease control becomes difficult. BrasilAgro reports the sale of 863 hectares, 498 of which are arable, from the Morotí farm for a nominal value of US$ 1.5 million. Morotí Farm has a total area of 59,585 hectares, with 34,053 arable hectares, located in Boquerón, in the western region of Paraguay, also known as Chaco Paraguayo. Initial payment was US$ 748.5 thousand.
