Chamber of Beef Industry proposes an increase in the mandatory minimum weight of cattle to be sent to the slaughterhouse as a way to guarantee internal supply, allowing for an increase in exports. Exports reach 675,000 tons of beef between January and October, with 73.2% of shipments to China (Argentine Agrarian Federation)

Export of eggs in November reaches a higher value in 7 months, but does not reach the values of the same period in 2020. Around 859.81 tons of eggs were exported in November, a value 38.4% lower than in the previous year. Since the beginning of the year, 8.97 thousand tons of eggs have been exported. Gross value of agricultural production (VBP) in 2021 was around US$ 202 billion, driven by the growth of agriculture, of 12.3%, and livestock, which grew 5.4%. Agricultural trade balance achieved a record of US$ 8.36 billion in November, even with an increase of 10.5% in product imports. The result was due to the high average prices of products exported by the country. Agribusiness contributed with 41.2% of total exports. New agreement with China expands from 3 to 17 the approved species for export of frozen fruits. The 14 new approved species are raspberry, blackberry, cranberry, apple, avocado, cherry, pine cone, grape, kiwi, peach, mango, papaya, pineapple, pomegranate, blueberry, blackberry and strawberry. In 2020, Chilean shipments of frozen fruits totaled 171,000 tons with an FOB value of US$435 million. China is in 5th place in Chilean exports, with 11,000 tons and US$ 23 million.

The first pure breed of Mexican sheep Pelifolk was officially recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture. Main characteristics of this new sheep breed are the coat to adapt to different climates and production systems, rusticity, more prolific females and higher carcass meat yield. Beef exports reached US$ 1,544 billion in November 2021, representing an increase of 45.5% compared to US$ 1.061 billion in the previous year. Chile was the main destination for exports, with a 42.8% share of the total exported value and an increase of 65.6% in value and 34.5% in volume in November purchases, when compared to the previous year. New broad bean variety called “INIA 444 – SIWINA” was approved, which is an alternative to improve the productivity and profitability of farmers in the Andean region. Average yield of the variety is 3.037 tons per hectare and potential for 3.851 tons per hectare, showing resistance to the attack of “chocolate stain” (Botrytis fabae), leaf rust (Uromyces fabae) and viruses (BBMV, BBSV), the main diseases of culture in the country.
