Recorded two cases of avian flu in wild birds on the coast of the State of Espírito Santo. No embargoes are expected from importers on Brazilian poultry. Significant increase in the incidence of stink bugs in soybean and corn during the 2022/23 season. Growth was driven by the normalization of the climate and increase in grain production, including expansion of the cultivated area, that favors the development of pests. Production of tequila increased 526% from 1995 to 2022. Since the creation of the Tequila Regulatory Council – CRT, production has gone from 1 million liters, produced 29 years ago, up to 104 million in 1995, and to 651 million at the end of 2022. “Exports increased 541%, from 65 million liters exported in 1995 up to 416 million liters in 2022,” said Ramón González Figueroa, director of the CRT. Sanitary authorities in Chile have suspended imports of mangoes from Peru after detecting quarantine pests. Peruvian exporters claim that the mangoes undergo a process of immersion in hot water, at a temperature of 46° C, for approximately 80 minutes, and this would make the presence of pests impossible. Batch of vaccines against avian flu was discarded by the Ministry of Agriculture. After routine quality control, the ministry found that a batch of avian influenza vaccines imported from Mexico was out of the ideal temperature for maintenance. (Ministry of Agriculture)
