Cotton varieties from the National Institute of Agricultural Technology reached the Paraguayan market. Seeds of the Guazuncho 4 INTA BGRR, Guarani INTA BGRR and Pora 3 INTA BGRR varieties will be sent to the country. Cultivars will be available for sowing in the next season in Paraguay, sold by Gensus SA. They stand out for their short cycle, high fiber yield, and good overall health. Presence of the moniliasis fungus (Moniliophthora roreri), that can reduce cupuassu (Theobroma grandiflorum) and cocoa production by up to 70%, was confirmed by laboratory tests. This is the second focus of the disease that has been identified, this time in the rural area of the city of Tabatinga, State of Amazonas, on the border with Peru and Colombia. Government of Goiás State, through the Goiás Agricultural Defense Agency, released figures for the last vaccination campaign against foot-and-mouth disease, that reached a vaccination rate of 98.59%. Anasac signs an agreement with AgBiome to sell biofungicides in Latin America. Agreement involves development and registration of a biological fungicide formulation, based on the strain Pseudomonas chlororaphis AFS009. Between 2015 and 2021, export grew 17 times. Excessive rainfall affected fruit quality and climatic factors caused damage to the country’s road infrastructure. First shipment of mangoes to the USA. About 20 tonnes of the Keitt variety harvested in the municipality of Pradera, in Valle del Cauca, arrived on December 27 at the port of Savannah, Georgia. Government promotes use of pheromones developed by Provivi. More than 24,000 hectares already use the product against the fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda). Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, Víctor Villalobos, reports that the economic and environmental costs are low because the technology “consists only of placing dispensers of baits that contain pheromones in the farming plots, at the time of planting”. 30% of the cultivated areas in the mountains were lost because of the worst drought of the last 58 years. “On the mountains there are no dams or irrigation projects like on the coast. Without rain, no matter how much you plant, it doesn’t produce.
