Brazilian Agrochemical Market Fertilizer and Pesticide News

Russia is the largest supplier of fertilizers to Brazil

Fertilizer prices drop can lead farmers to judicial recovery (Chapter 11). Those who bought fertilizers during the rise of prices, now have to sell their harvests for a lower value than expected. In early 2022, it took 20 bags of soybeans to buy a tonne of single super phosphate fertilizer. Now 10 bags are needed. “Some products, such as corn, that used to go up at this time of year, are not going up, making the price difference of those who bought fertilizers a negative factor and who now may not be able to remunerate this price if the final products, such as soybean, corn and cotton, are below the estimated price, which is an expectation due to the drop in the sector’s inputs”, warns the specialist in bankruptcy, Douglas Duek.
