Banco Nación, a State-owned bank in Argentina, reported that the agricultural loan portfolio reached approximately US$ 3 billion, up more than 55% since December 2025 and equivalent to approximately 30% of the bank’s total portfolio. Loan originations in 2026 have already exceeded approximately US$ 2.67 billion. Raízen completed the sale of operations in Argentina to Latam Downstream Holdings and Silver Projects I, companies controlled by Mercuria Energy Group, on September 1ˢᵗ. The transaction has a total economic value of US$ 1.42 billion, including a cash payment and the assumption of debt from the local subsidiary by the buyer. Net proceeds remain subject to post-closing adjustments and will be allocated to the company’s capital structure management. The sale had been announced in June. (Raízen; CVM)
Companies in the grain and oilseed export complex settled US$ 2.75 billion in foreign currency in August (-6% from July), supported by higher corn shipments and increased farmer sales to exporters. From January through August, settlements totaled US$ 19.05 billion. (CIARA-CEC)
Animal protein exports reached US$ 3.46 billion from January through July 2026 (+35%), the highest value for the period in ten years. Total exports reached US$ 1.43 billion in July (+52% from June), while imports totaled US$ 1.25 billion, resulting in a US$ 176 million trade surplus. StoneX raised the projection for the soybean harvest in Brazil in the 2026/27 season to 183.5 million tonnes (+0.5% from 2025/26), up 0.2% from the previous estimate. The State of Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics projects corn production of 53.68 million tonnes in the State of Mato Grosso in the 2026/27 season (-7.5%), with planted area of 7.48 million hectares (+0.59%) and yield of 119.64 60-kg bags/hectare (-8.05%). Domestic consumption is expected to increase 16.23% to 27.04 million tonnes, mainly driven by corn ethanol expansion, exceeding exports for the first time, which are projected at 17.50 million tonnes (-27.39%). Soybean exports from Brazil reached 82.9 million tonnes from January through July 2026 (+7.8%), while corn exports reached 9.8 million tonnes (+10.53%). Northern Arc ports [Arco Norte] accounted for 39.03% of soybean shipments and 46.12% of corn shipments, compared with 35.74% and 22.27%, respectively, through the Port of Santos. Bunge agreed to sell the Rio Vermelho and Nova Unialco sugarcane mills in Junqueirópolis and Guararapes, State of São Paulo, to COFCO International. The National Supply Company opened applications through October 30ᵗʰ for an extraordinary subsidy for independent sugarcane farmers in Northeast Brazil affected by additional tariffs on Brazilian exports or extreme weather events in the 2025/26 season.
