Argentina’s Corn Exports Set to Reach Record 10 Million Tonnes in August and September

Corn planting for the 2026/27 season reached 1.5% of the projected 8.4 million hectares, while 2025/26 production remains forecast at 64 million tonnes. Corn exports are expected to reach a record 10 million tonnes in August and September amid reduced supply from Ukraine and Europe. President Javier Milei reaffirmed the fiscal balance and tight monetary policy and said reforms will continue. The government reported more than US$ 45 billion in investments approved under the large-investment incentive regime, with another US$ 150 billion awaiting approval. Grupo Faro Verde acquired all shares of CeresTolvas, a grains, agricultural inputs, farm machinery and animal nutrition company in Argentina. Wade SA, one of the companies in the poultry group Granja Tres Arroyos, filed for bankruptcy protection [similar to US’ Chapter 11th] amid the group’s financial crisis. The National Supply Company forecasts sugarcane production at 705.2 million tonnes in 2026/27 (+4.7% when compared to 2025/26), while sugar output is projected to fall 2.9% from 2025/26 to 42.89 million tonnes. Sugarcane ethanol production should increase 9.7% to 29.98 billion liters. Recent rains in the Center-South increased lost milling days. The State of Mato Grosso do Sul Farmers Association of Soybean, Corn and Other Grains estimates that soybean processing increased the equivalent value from US$ 0.44/kg to US$ 0.51/kg in June. Soybean meal exports from the State of Mato Grosso do Sul exceeded 100 K tonnes per month from April through June, while shipments of corn DDG, a byproduct of ethanol production used in animal feed, also increased in 2026. Embrapa submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture 163 measures to reduce climate risks during the 2026/27 crop season amid El Niño, which include 14 cross-sector measures, 139 production chain-specific recommendations and 10 public policy support actions. Grupo 3corações completed the approximately US$ 156 million acquisition of General Mills operations in Brazil, including Yoki and Kitano. Mantiqueira Brasil, an egg producer, announced an investment of approximately US$ 110 million to expand operations across five states. BrasilAgro reported operating net revenue of approximately US$ 174 million in the 2025/26 crop year (+2% when compared to 2024/25) and adjusted EBITDA from operations of approximately US$ 19 million (+11%). Adecoagro completed the approximately US$ 136 million acquisition of the Caarapó mill from Raízen. The company expects the mill to process 4.5 million tonnes of sugarcane in 2027, raising crushing at the cluster in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul to 17 million tonnes. (Adecoagro)

Agroconsult raised the 2025/26 cotton crop estimate in Brazil from 4.2 million to a record of approximately 4.5 million tonnes of lint, despite a 6.3% reduction in planted area when compared to 2024/25. The State of Mato Grosso is expected to produce 2.99 million tonnes. (Agroconsult)

Beef exports from Brazil reached 233.5 K tonnes in August (-22.2% when compared to August 2025), with revenue of US$ 1.36 billion (-15.2%). Shipments to China fell 88.2% to 18.9 K tonnes in the same comparison after the quota established under the Chinese safeguard was exhausted. (ABIEC)

A Chile–China project provides for a US$ 10 million investment in an agricultural technology demonstration farm on 15.7 hectares at the University of Chile. The initiative involves the private sector, government and agricultural organizations and will test Chinese technologies, species and production solutions. (FIA)

More than 30 export companies from Chile held more than 450 meetings with approximately 80 buyers from South Korea, Japan and Taipei. Tiendas Bara, FEMSA’s food retail chain, announced an investment of approximately US$ 222 million in Jalisco from 2026 through 2031. Representatives of 38 Brazilian mills visited farmers, cooperatives and wheat-sector facilities in Paraguay. The Brazilian Wheat Industry Association, Paraguayan Chamber of Grain and Oilseed Exporters and Traders and representatives of the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock discussed expanding Paraguayan wheat sales to Brazil, the main market for the product.
