Argentina suspends exports of poultry products
Confirmed first case of avian flu in industrial poultry, causing the suspension of poultry product exports. Case was detected in the province of Rio Negro, in an area with low poultry population. (Senasa)
Agribusiness entities held protests organized by the Agrarian Federation of Argentina on 02/28 to demand responses from the Government because of the lowest soybean harvest in 14 years. Secretary of Agriculture, Juan José Bahillo, said that no public policy can be enough to help against an interruption in the normal rainfall cycle. Chile and South Africa are the only countries expected to have an increase in the tangerine harvest during the current season. According to the USDA, it is expected that in the 2022/2023 season all categories of citrus will suffer production declines worldwide because of adverse weather events and increase in the cost of agricultural inputs. Chilean production should reach 237 thousand tonnes, with an increase of 67 thousand tonnes. In the case of Peru, production will drop 20,000 tonnes to a total of 550,000, compounded by increases in labor costs and high fertilizer prices. (USDA)

Annual milk production should reach 12.852 billion liters, but the amount is not enough to meet demand. Country will have to resort to importation.
