Chile prohibits glyphosate + tallowamine

First vaccine strain against bovine leukosis was approved after more than 20 years of research. Bovine leukosis is a viral disease present in the herds of 90% of dairy farms, and can cause lymphosarcoma in the animals. The “Genetically Modified Bovine Leukosis Virus BLVDX6073” requested by the National Institute of Agricultural Technology can now be sold. (INTA)

Basf and Embrapa start partnership to promote joint production of soybean and honey in Brazilian farms. After the 2022/23 harvest, companies will carry out research in the cities of São Gabriel (State of Rio Grande do Sul) Maringá (State of Paraná) and Dourados (State of Mato Grosso do Sul) and will create a booklet with basic recommendations for coexistence between soybean and beekeepers. Bracell, a pulp mill with headquarters in Lençóis Paulistas, State of São Paulo, announces the creation of the “Environmental Recovery Program”. Company will recover approximately 3,000 hectares in 47 cities in São Paulo. The program is expected to remove more than 360,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by the end of 2025. Agricultural Service prohibits formulations of pesticides containing mixture of glyphosate with tallowamine, which facilitates the absorption of the herbicide by weeds. Country is the first in the Americas to create regulations of this type. (SAG)

Through genetic modification, tobacco is able to produce plastic in its leaves, using the bacterium Agrobacterium tumefaciens, according to research carried out by National University of Colombia. In nature, Agrobacterium tumefaciens infects tobacco leaves, creating a cut into which genes are injected, causing the plant to produce food for the bacterium; however, the process can be modified to produce natural plastic polymers.
