  • Potassium chloride imports reach 5.29 million tonnes in 2022, exceeding more than 30% the 4.03 million tonnes imported in the same period in 2021. (Agrinvest Commodities)
  • Bayer expands innovation center in Petrolina, in the state of Pernambuco, announcing an investment of US$ 24 million to build laboratories, greenhouses and equipments. The unit shall also have a new protected cultivation area for the development of research in corn and soybeans. (Bayer)
  • In a tense meeting of the Collegiate Board of Anvisa, determination of immediate suspension of import, manufacturing, commercialization and distribution of the pesticide carbendazim was approved until conclusion of the reassessment. (Anvisa)
  • Agriculture Committee of the Chamber of Representatives approves an investigation into the increase of fertilizer prices. The author of the proposal, deputy Domingos Sávios, says that the increase of inputs has evidence of crime. (Chamber of Deputies)
  • Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation launches public selection that shall invest US$ 6.9 million in innovation for sustainable crop protection products, bio-inputs and fertilizers. Resources come from the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development. Are eligible Brazilian companies of any size with experience in the production of agri inputs. An economic subsidy of US$ 387,000 to US$ 744,000 per project shall be available. (MCTI)

  • Imported 1.073 million tonnes of fertilizers from Russia in May, representing an annual increase of 78%. In the first 5 months of the year, were impotered 3.484 million tonnes, reaching a total of US$ 2.512 billion. (Secretary of Foreign Trade)
  • Paraná Agricultural Defense Agency works to prevent the abusive use of pesticides in blackbeans farms. Irregular levels of contamination were dected in 26% of the samples collected in the state. The anticipation of desiccation with glufosinate is considered a probable cause of contamination. (Adapar)
  • Ihara announces a mixture of herbicides diquat dibromide + amicarbazone, proposed to be a substitute of paraquat as desiccant in soybean. (Ihara)
  • Haifa, a potassium nitrate manufacturer from Israel, is seeking a special fertilizer company in Brazil for acquisition. The objective is to make here its 5th global “hub”, where products shall be manufactured and supplied to other subsidiaries in the world. Potential acquisitions have not yet been announced. (Haifa)
  • New probiotic consortium technology (TCP) provides the nutrients needed for soybean cultivation directly from the soil, aiming to reduce fertilizer costs. TCP involves the creation of microbiomes that produce organic acids, enzymes, amino acids, sugars, vitamins and natural antibiotics and interact with beneficial microorganisms acting on organic matter in the soil.
