300 kg of pesticides were seized in Barra do Garças, State of Mato Grosso. The cargo was valued at US$ 403.3 thousand and was transported in a pickup truck by a 19-year-old man without tax documents. The Mato Grosso Agricultural Defense Institute found out that the product has the same characteristics as emamectin benzoate, which requires specific documentation and transportation. ICL researcher says that the amino acid complex, and not its use alone, is more effective in controlling the abiotic stresses of the plants. “It is always preferable that foliar products are based on free amino acids (L-amino acids) and this combination with a diversity of amino acids with different functions in the plant’s metabolism, in addition to mitigating the effects of environmental stress, improving growth and enhancing crop productivity, is considered innovative and environmentally friendly”, emphasizes Karla Vilaça, the company’s Technical Development consultant. Koppert is opening up a new unit, called Koppert Andina, based in Santiago, Chile, to serve the country and others, such as Ecuador, Peru and Colombia. Initially, will be sold bioinputs manufactured at its headquarters in the Netherlands, and products from the two Brazilian factories will be sold in the future. Colombian Agricultural Institute announced biopreparations and biofactories will be regulated for agricultural use. According to the institute, the registrations allow the country to guarantee quality standards, protect plant health, and benefit small and medium-sized producers on a large scale. “Each time they are given a new opportunity to place a value-added, safe, and harmless agricultural product on the market, which is endorsed by the ICA, they gain notoriety among others in the sector”, they explain. Beekeepers protest in front of the presidential building in the city of Meoqui, Mexico, against the massive mortality of bees and ask for an immediate solution.
