Soybean sanitary break ends in September 15th

Central Bank allows soybean farmers to deposit pesos acquired through sales in the so-called “soybean chacareras accounts”, that are equivalent to the daily adjustment of the wholesale dollar exchange rate. Until then, deposits were limited to 70% of exports. (Argentina Central Bank)

Secretary of Agriculture, Juan Bahillo, highlights new type of exchange rate. According to Bahillo, there have been changes in the “agro dollar” regime, approved in August to generate foreign currency as from dollar increase for soybean farmers. Dollar quoted at $200 (pesos) should improve income for farmers, who sell between $50,000 and $52,000 per ton, allowing revenue increase by up to 70,000 per ton. Counterfeit drums of fruit tree biostimulant identified being sold to farmers in the O’Higgins region. Representatives of Kelpak filed suit after detecting an illegal sale of drums with labels of the company’s organic product made from South African algae, but contained only water, urea and dyes. Approved law that protects beekeeping, creating the National Register of Beekeepers. Agricultural and Livestock Service can declare free and sanitary control zones, quarantines, sanitary barriers and isolation of hives. In addition, it will be able to control and supervise the use of pesticides that can have effects on beekeeping, requiring notification of the application of these products to beekeepers who are in nearby areas at least 48 hours in advance.
