Colombia’s Coffee Exports to the USA Increased 14.7%

During a meeting with investors in New York, Argentina’s Economy Minister Luis Caputo said that the Government intends to build up foreign reserves and repurchase sovereign bonds maturing in 2029 and 2030, while keeping the exchange rate within a managed band that may be adjusted up to 1.5% per month depending on inflation and peso demand. Rosario Board of Trade raised its projection for the 2025/26 wheat harvest to 24.5 million tonnes, above estimates from the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange (22 million) and the USDA (19.5 million). The national average yield is expected to reach 3.77 tonnes/ha, with significant gains in Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Santa Fe. If confirmed, production will be the largest in history, surpassing the 2021/22 season. Argentina accumulated US$ 34.5 billion in foreign currency from the agricultural sector from January to October of 2025, marking the third-largest inflow on record, driven by early sales and a record export surge in September. State University of Mato Grosso do Sul presented carbon stock maps of the Upper Paraguay Basin, showing that native formations and managed areas in the Pantanal Biome store high volumes of carbon per hectare. Heavy rains, hail, strong winds and three tornadoes between November 1st and 10th damaged about 270 thousand hectares of soybeans in the State of Paraná. Brazil and Chile began using electronic phytosanitary certificates (ePhyto) on November 10th, allowing all Chilean exports of fruits, vegetables, forest products and propagation material to Brazil to adopt the digital system. The measure decreases logistics costs, speeds up border clearance and modernizes bilateral agricultural trade. Colombia has vaccinated 19% of its cattle and buffalo herd in the first two weeks of the 2025 Foot-and-Mouth Disease Cycle II, protecting 5.7 million animals. Colombia’s coffee exports to the USA increased 14.7% from January of August of 2025, while Brazil’s shipments fell 20.7% in the same period, creating an opportunity for Colombia to become the main supplier to the USA market. To protect the national industry and curb the decrease in global prices, the Government raised import tariffs on sugar to up to 210% for countries without trade agreements with the nation, such as Brazil. The decision aims to protect jobs and domestic production of sugar from sugarcane, as well as refined sugar, beet sugar and syrups. (Ministry of Agriculture)

President of the Peruvian Blueberry Farmers Association, Miguel Bentín, said that sustainable growth of the Peruvian blueberry sector requires creating demand before expanding supply. Agricultural exports reached US$ 9.8 billion from January to September of 2025, a 21.4% increase year-on-year, driven by higher volumes and prices of avocados, grapes, mangoes, pomegranates and pineapples.
