China Suspends Soybean Imports From Five Brazilian Exporters

State Secretariat for the Environment and the Bahia Association of Farmers and Irrigators planned actions for 2025 under the Cerrado Pact, focusing on reducing illegal deforestation and preserving the biome. China has suspended the import of soybeans from five Brazilian exporters: Terra Roxa Comércio de Cereais, Olam Brasil, C.Vale Cooperativa Agroindustrial, Cargill Agrícola S.A. and ADM, due to phytosanitary irregularities. The Ministry of Agriculture has downplayed the impact of the suspension, saying that it will not significantly affect trade flows with China. Between January and November 2024, agricultural exports totaled US$ 11.35 billion, a 22.7% increase. Exports of fruits and vegetables reached US$ 6.27 billion (55.27% of the total). The main products were blueberries (US$ 2.11 billion), avocados (US$ 1.24 billion), and grapes (US$ 1.11 billion). In November, exports grew by 23.9%, totaling US$ 1.66 billion.
