“By three votes to two, Anvisa maintained the decision to ban the active ingredient Paraquat in Brazil, scheduled to come into effect starting on September 22, according to the rules of the Collegiate Board Resolution (RDC) 177/2017.
As a result, the product cannot be produced or used in the country, and the import of this active ingredient will also be prohibited. The decision was made during the 18th Collegiate Board Meeting (Dicol), held this Tuesday (September 15th).
The final decision on the ban accompanies the vote of director Rômison Mota, who presented a report and opinion on the matter during the 15th Dicol, on August 18th. At that time, director Meiruze Sousa Freitas asked for a view, returning to the agenda of this week’s meeting.
In addition to Rômison Mota, directors Marcus Aurélio Miranda de Araújo and Alessandra Bastos Soares voted for the fulfillment of RDC 177/2017 and the ban on Paraquat. The votes against were the CEO, Antonio Barra Torres and the director Meiruze Sousa Freitas.”
