Anvisa has approved the toxicological evaluation of two new formulated products\u00a0(isopyrazam + cyproconazole), from Syngenta, and\u00a0rejected the toxicological evaluations of aluminum phosphide, from AAZ UTILIDADES, and thiamethoxam, from REAL FERT.\u00a0<\/strong>(Anvisa)<\/p>\n

Product developed by Embrapa and Innova Agrotecnologia might obtain a\u00a0“dual” registration (inoculant and pesticide).<\/strong>\u00a0The objective is for this product to replace part of the chemical fungicides in soybeans. The product, which was already\u00a0granted a\u00a0temporary\u00a0use permit, is a combination of three bacterial strains that act in biological nitrogen fixation and promote plant growth: BR 29 (Bradyrhizobium elkani<\/em>), BR 10788 (Bacilus subtilis<\/em>) and BR 10141\u00a0(Paraburkholderia nodosa<\/em>). Research indicated the Araguaia River, which\u00a0flows\u00a0through the states of Goi\u00e1s, Mato Grosso, Tocantins and Par\u00e1,\u00a0has high levels of atrazine, carbendazim, cyanazine, imidacloprid, 2,4-D, clomazone, chlorpyrifos-ethyl\u00a0and imazalil.<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cIt was evident that the majority of sub-basins had concentrations of pesticides in the water that exceeded safe levels for human consumption,\u201d according to an article published by researchers from the Federal and State Universities of Mato Grosso, Federal University of Goi\u00e1s and Federal University of Santa Maria. \u201cThe pesticides detected were associated with anomalies in ontogenetic development, disease and mortality of organisms.\u201d (Environmental Advances)<\/p>\n

“In a similar way to the previous legislation, the new Pesticide Law continues to provide for a system of triple responsibility (administrative, civil and criminal) in its articles 49 to 57 with regards to damage caused to people’s health and the environment by pesticides”, according to Giovani Ferri, prosecutor at the Public Ministry of the State of Paran\u00e1, and Luciano Loubet, prosecutor at the Public Ministry of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul. “By differentiating permitted pesticides from unregistered or unauthorized pesticides, the\u00a0new law seeks to more severely punish\u00a0crimes\u00a0involving illegal pesticides<\/strong>\u00a0that commonly enter Brazil through its extensive border”.\u00a0(Conjur; Public Ministry of PR; Public Ministry of MS)<\/p>\n

Crop-livestock integration can reduce the use of fertilizers and mitigate climate impacts, according to a study by Embrapa Cerrado. The Federal Senate’s Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Committee should vote\u00a0on\u00a0Bill No. 699\/2023, which establishes the Fertilizer Industry Development Program – Profert. This\u00a0project seeks to grant tax benefits to encourage fertilizer production in Brazil.<\/strong>\u00a0“The focus of the plan is the production of fertilizers in the Brazilian territory, seeking to reduce the scarcity of the product due to failures in the supply chains and price volatility. Eurochem facility built in Serra do Salitre, in the State of Minas Gerais, will begin operating\u00a0on March 13th and should\u00a0manufacture 500 thousand tonnes of fertilizers in 2024.<\/strong>\u00a0This is the largest project of the Eurochem group outside Europe,\u00a0demanding\u00a0investments of US$ 1 billion. \u201cThis allows us to be competitive in Brazil and overcome logistics\u00a0issues.
